The Revd James Henley

The Revd James Henley

James is our Ministry Area Leader, responsible for leading our Ministry Team, and overseeing our mission and ministry. He is married to Amy, with two daughters: Evie (10) and Thea (3). Although he was born in Canterbury, Kent, James grew up from the age of eight in Llandre — a small village outside the town of Aberystwyth on the mid Wales coast.

Moving to South Wales after finishing school, James was involved for ten years in developing The Lab, a fresh expression of Church amongst young people and young adults in Newport. During this time, he achieved professional accreditation as a youth & community worker, before training for ordination on the Church Mission Society’s Pioneer Mission Leadership Training programme in partnership with Ripon College Cuddesdon. After serving his curacy in Newport, James and the family moved to Cardiff in November 2017.

In addition to his role as Ministry Area Leader, James also serves as Continuing Ministerial Development Officer for the Diocese of Monmouth. He is also a clerical member of the Diocesan Standing Committee, Diocesan Board of Finance and the Governing Body of the Church in Wales.
