Social Justice

As a Ministry Area, we support a network of different local projects seeking to address injustice and respond to human need in our communities:

The Churches Together Community Shop

For many years, the Churches Together Community Shop in the Maelfa Shopping Centre, Llanedeyrn, has been a source of support for the local community. The shop provides good quality, affordable second hand goods for those in need of them, as well as a cafe space serving simple food and drink.

The shop is open Monday to Friday, 10am to 3pm.

Puffins

Puffins is a project initiated by St Teilo’s CiW High School, and provides emergency access to fresh food for those in crisis. We work alongside families in our community by providing:

  • An emergency fresh food Puffins parcel;
  • A slow cooker for you to keep;
  • A four-day supply of fresh ingredients and suggested menus for a period of six weeks;
  • A breakfast club in school for children who would otherwise go hungry; and
  • An emergency packed lunch for children whose families have hit crisis.

Support Puffins by making a one-off or regular donation.

Llanedeyrn Foodbank

The Llanedeyrn distribution centre is part of the city-wide Cardiff Foodbank. The Foodbank provides three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us in crisis. It is part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
