Bishop Cherry, in consultation with Dean Ian, has appointed three new Canons to the Cathedral to fill the vacancies that have arisen.
They are The Revd James Henley, Ministry Area Leader in the East Cardiff MA; The Revd Wendy Tayler, Vicar in the Cwmbran MA and The Revd David Salsbury, Moderator, National Synod of Wales, The United Reformed Church, who will be an ecumenical canon.
Bishop Cherry says: “It is a joy, as always, to appoint some new Canons to the Cathedral and, once again, to be able to strengthen our ties with our ecumenical partners. I look forward to all that they will bring to enhance the life and witness of our Cathedral Church as we work together to live out the good news of Jesus Christ.”
Dean Ian says: “I am delighted at the appointment of these faithful servants of the church and partners in the gospel to be canons of the Cathedral. I look forward to installing them in November and everything they will bring to the Cathedral’s wider ministry.”
They will be installed at a service of Choral Evensong at 4pm on Sunday 16th November 2025.
This is a new responsibility which Fr James will fulfil alongside his existing role as our Ministry Area Leader. Please do save the date for the installation service in November, for the opportunity to celebrate with him and the other new canons at the Cathedral.
