With sadness, we announce today that Fr Andrew Hutchinson will be leaving the East Cardiff Ministry Area at Christmas this year. After a long period of soul searching, he has made the very difficult decision to move back to the Midlands for personal and family reasons. In January, he will take up a new role as Chaplain to The Blue Coat School, Edgbaston, Birmingham.
Fr Andrew wanted to say,
I am so very grateful for the welcome and support from both the clergy team, the laity and Bishop Cherry which has helped me significantly during this extremely challenging time. I very much want you to know that this has not been an easy decision and I would like to express at this stage my sincere gratitude for your kindness and thoughtfulness towards me.
The Blue Coat School requested that I begin my new role immediately but I wanted to continue serving and journeying with you in East Cardiff until Christmas. I am very grateful indeed that this will be possible and will much cherish this time with you before I leave.
As a Ministry Team we will be incredibly sorry to lose Fr Andrew so soon. However, we entirely understand his reasons for leaving and completely support him in the decision he has made. We are so thankful for the considerable gifts he has brought to the team, and shared with our congregations, and send him on to this next chapter of his ministry with our prayers and best wishes. The process for Bishop Cherry to appoint Fr Andrew’s successor as Vicar for Liturgy and Worship will begin very soon, and we will keep you updated on any progress.
