Staff & Officers

Nathan Bird

Nathan is the Director of Music for St Augustine’s Rumney, leading our adult choir and choristers, and helping to co-ordinate our liturgy and music. As the senior musician in the Ministry Area, he also advises our Ministry Team on matters to do with music and liturgy, and often assists with services and other events.

Ruth Young

Ruth spent her childhood in Cardiff, not far from the Ministry Area! Roath Park is one of  her favourite places, although she now spends much more time in the playground watching her daughter explore. Since leaving Cardiff to go to University she has worked across the United Kingdom – in England, Scotland (and Northern Ireland for almost 2 weeks!) Ruth has had a varied work life – from museums, zoos, schools, libraries, churches and community work. Before moving back to Wales…

Rhys Collins

Rhys is our Ministry Area People’s Warden, following a six year stint in the same position in the former Cyncoed Benefice. He is also a local church warden at All Saints’ Llanedeyrn, where he worships on a weekly basis and has done for many years; he chairs their committee, maintains links with the school and occasionally leads worship so chances are if you attend worship there one week you will bump into Rhys. Rhys’ wife Liz has a strong faith…

Phil Jones

Phil has been part of our Ministry Area over many years, first worshipping at St David’s Pentwyn and now in St Edeyrn’s, where he is also a local church warden. He is also a Foundation Governor at St Mellons Church in Wales Primary School.

Claire Ingrams

Claire is our Ministry Area Secretary and also a local Church Warden at All Saints’ Cyncoed. Claire is a solicitor latterly working for Citizens Advice and took early retirement last year; she continues her passion for social justice by volunteering two days a week at Cardiff Foodbank. Claire is married to Duncan who worships with her and her mother Margaret at All Saints’, and they have two adult children. Her hobbies are sport, particularly rugby (probably more of an obsession…

Matthew Turner

Matthew is the Lay Co-chair of our Ministry Area Council and Board of Trustees, as well as a regular worshipper at St Augustine’s Rumney, and an experienced bell ringer.

Ordinands

We are blessed to have candidates for ordained ministry on placement with us as part of their formation through St Padarn’s Institute. You can find them in the Ministry Area on Tuesdays and Sundays:
