Announcement: The Revd Rosemary Hill

It is with great delight that Bishop Cherry announces the appointment of the Revd Rosemary Hill as Ministry Area Leader for the St Illtyd Ministry Area.

Rose currently serves in the East Cardiff Ministry Area and as School Priest at St Teilo’s CinW High School, where she offers dedicated spiritual and pastoral care to students and the wider school community. In this role, she helps young people and their families deepen their connection with the life and ministry of the local church.

Bishop Cherry, said: “This appointment is very good news indeed for the St Illtyd Ministry Area. Rose knows and understands the life and ways of the valleys communities and will bring a deep love and passion for the people she will be serving. She has a heart for bringing people together to foster friendship and a sense of belonging alongside faith and hope in Jesus Christ.”

Speaking about her new appointment, Rose said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be the new MAL for St Illtyd Ministry Area. Although, I am sad to leave East Cardiff Ministry Area (ECMA) and St Teilo’s, I know that the love and kindness that has been shown to me by the communities I minister to in Cardiff have enabled me to feel confident to take this next step. I will miss my ECMA and St Teilo’s flock greatly. However, I am so excited to get to know the clergy, congregations and communities of St Illtyd MA.

“I am looking forward to what the future holds for our churches and the adventures that the Holy Spirit will lead us on. Please hold Franky, Laura, Grace and I in your prayers as we prepare for this new chapter and be assured that you are all in my prayers too.”

Rose has brought such great energy to our schools ministry, outreach work with local families, and in pioneering our Open Table Community. This has been in addition to her pastoral and priestly ministry across our congregations. For all this and more, we owe her our thanks.

The arrangements for Rose’s farewell will be circulated once these have been confirmed. We anticipate her final service will take place later in the year, sometime in June or July.
